Itinerary

  • Westminster Abbey was once a Benedictine Abbey. Britain's longest reigning monarch Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth The Second had her coronation at Westminster Abbey in 1953.

  • Buckingham Palace is where the monarch has their main residence.

  • The Palace of Westminster is the meeting place of both the House of Commons and the House of Lords – the two houses that make up the Parliament of the United Kingdom.

  • Parliament Square has hosted many demonstrations amongst the statues of historic individuals.

  • Number 10 Downing Street has been the residence of the Prime Minister for hundreds of years. And the Chancellor of the Exchequer is his next-door neighbour at number 11.

  • The two fountains at the foot of Nelsons Column in Trafalgar Square were designed by Edwin Lutyens in 1937 with four large bronze lions protecting the magnificent statue in the square.

  • The London Eye was opened to celebrate the new millennium on New Year's Eve in 1999. The height has already been surpassed by structures in Asia and the USA but it is still known as the "world’s tallest cantilevered observation wheel" and the tallest Ferris wheel in Europe.
