It was designated as a National Monument in 1924. At the end of the tour, you can break for lunch at your own expense and then continue your visit on your own. Meet your guide at the front entrance of Pier A Harbor House, 22 Battery Place (to the right of the Statue of Liberty ferry and Castle Clinton). Please arrive 15 minutes before the beginning of the tour

It’s an iconic symbol of freedom: the neoclassical goddess of liberty with her arm upraised and a flaming torch in hand. Gifted to America by the French, the Statue of Liberty was delivered in 300 copper pieces that were then assembled on an iron structure designed by Gustave Eiffel (the tower man).
