Now a celebrated symbol of Vienna and the city’s top attraction, since 1996 this sumptuous Baroque palace has been listed as a Unesco World Heritage Site.
- Hofburg Palace
Built in the 13th Century, the Hofburg Castle was originally a Medieval fortress and expanded over the centuries to become the beautiful castle we know today: a symbol of the Austrian culture and royalty. The most recent part of the Palace was added at the beginning of the 20th century, and the only remaining part dating back to the Medieval Times is the Chapel or Burgkapelle.
- Prater Vienna
The Prater, situated in the heart of the city, is Vienna's largest public park and is also home to one of the oldest amusement parks in the world. Popular with locals and tourists alike, the park is somewhere for both fun and relaxation. Previously used as hunting grounds, the park opened for public enjoyment in 1766 with the establishment of coffee houses and cafés.
- Belvedere Palace
The Belvedere Palace features not only one but two palaces, the Upper and Lower Belvedere separated by an extensive main garden situated over three terraces. This immense summer residence was built in the 18th century for the Prince and is famous for it's stunning Baroque architecture designed by Johann Lukas von Hildebrandt.
- Kunsthistorisches Museum
Kunsthistorisches Museum is Vienna's Museum of Fine Arts housed in a palatial complex with an iconic octagonal dome adorning the museum. Found on Ringstraße, this is Austria's largest art museum - definitely worth a visit or even a guided tour for true art lovers.
- Imperial Treasury
The Imperial Treasury in the Hofburg is one of the most important sights in Vienna. It displays parts of the former collections of the House of Habsburg-Lothringen with the highest dynastic or religious significance, such as the crown of the Holy Roman Empire and the Austrian imperial crown.
