Learn all about the medieval history of Chester from a costumed guide on this small-group tour of the city. Your guide will tell you all about Hotspur’s rebellion and more, using role-play, while you walk between the Chester city walls, medieval rows, and the ruins of the original cathedral, St John’s. This is a lot more entertaining than a self-tour with a guidebook.

A great tour and Richard was an excellent and engaging guide. Thank you. We now know a lot more about the Cheshire Archer.

Richard the Cheshire Archer is an interesting, enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide. Lots of history which was explained well plus lots of interesting facts.

A spur of the moment decision whilst visiting Chester in January. We booked at the visitor information centre, the lady there told us the guide was very knowledgeable and passionate about his history and she was not wrong! It was a very cold mid January day, but the cold soon went out of our minds as we were engrossed learning about Henry Hotspur. Our guide was fully kitted out as a Cheshire archer, something that got him a few comments as we went round ;-) He had some interesting items to show, brought out the history of Chester and it was throughly enjoyable. We were given a choice of locations to end the tour, which was a nice touch. Even if you are only vaguely interested in history I think you would get something out of this tour -the guide was very personable.

We had a Cheshire archer showing us around the city of Chester. Our American friends were so impressed! He was very knowledgeable, easy to understand and very interesting. Good value for money.
We will walk a section of Chester city walls explaining how they started and developed.
We will walk Chester unique rows and explain why and how they were used in medieval Chester.
Here we will describe what the area of the amphitheater was used for by St. John’s cathedral in medieval times
