Step into San Francisco’s “Little Italy” for an evening that blends eerie folklore and local flavors. Wander through North Beach’s storied streets, sampling a variety of regional dishes—from fresh focaccia sandwiches at a bohemian hangout to a sweet Italian finale—while a guide reveals tales of the Gold Rush era, Beatnik poets, and other neighborhood legends. Peek at where San Francisco’s oldest restaurant made movie history, discover the backstory of modern pizza, pop briefly into a haunted corner of Chinatown, and stand outside a bar steeped in local lore. You’ll even see where The Godfather was penned. This experience used to be solely about pizza—some older reviews may mention that—but the menu now showcases a wider range of neighborhood favorites. Enjoy a satisfying full meal, historical anecdotes, and spine-tingling stories in one unforgettable outing.

This free tour offered by San Francisco City Guides took me around a 2-squared- block area of North Beach. I learned about the Italian community and how it is reflected in its churches, eateries, and watering holes. Guide Audrey focused on some of the more popular businesses and on the history of the main locales. It's a good tour for visitors new to the area but I think local residents would enjoy it as well. Audrey kept the tour interesting and personalized it with a bit of her family history that livened the narrative.

Hi! Although we do love a 5-star review, I think you meant to leave this on the SF City Guides Page, not the Stretchy Pants Food Tours Page! (We also love SF City Guides and want them to get their cudos!)

This a great casual walking tour focusing on Italian cuisine with some local ghost stories added in. Dale was awesome and knows the area well. Definitely recommended!

This was a great tour. All of the food was amazing and I’d go back to any of the restaurants again to eat on my own. Marcy was very knowledgeable about the local history and different ghost stories. It was a great evening.

Our tour guide Marcy was amazing! I live in SF and I learned so much about the city because of her. Her story telling skills were top notch and she knows how to throw a party. I would definitely recommend this company for your group or private group tour needs.
