Exploring Lucca’s walls via bicycle was a fun experience!!

The bike rental was great! Biking on the city walls was a wonderful experience. The city of Lucca itself was not all that biker friendly in my opinion. But biking, like driving, in Italy is a whole different game!! Beware of Comic Con schedule … thankfully we were visited weeks before the event, however; the huge white plastic structure in the middle of town dynamically changes the ambience. The many around other tents around town were not as distracting.

I booked the bikes online having read the reviews on Trip Advisor and we weren’t disappointed. The bikes were adjusted for our heights, a map was handed over as well as a laminated map attached to the handlebars. We hired the bikes just further an hour, which in the heat was long enough. We ride mainly along the city wall which, being 40’ above ground level meant it was cooler up there.
