Beautiful park and great experience

Beautiful park and a great experience. The tour was wonderful during the morning. We didn't get to see any leopards but it was too warm at thw time we went. The driver was very sharp and spotted small lizards, chameleons, eagles Nd an owl from far. I qould recommend taking a hand held fan as it gets warm when the vehicle stops for pictures.
Safari is the best

I applied for the safari tour individually with Udawalawe Safari Fun. I went alone, so I thought I would be put on a tour somewhere, but I had a completely private trip. I really enjoyed seeing so many animals, including a herd of mother and calf elephants, peacocks, foxes, buffaloes, hummingbirds, kingfishers, etc. The guide also entertained us by asking us animal quizzes to keep us from getting bored.
DO NOT BOOK THIS TOUR. TOUR GUIDE WILL NOT SHOW UP!

If I could give ZERO stars I would. First, we woke up at 4:00 to be ready in time for our tour guide to pick us up and THEY NEVER SHOWED UP. We called the TripAdvisor hotline who then contacted the tour guide after us waiting for 1 hour and he said he was sleeping. He had confirmed the tour days prior to and didn’t even offer an apology. After we advised that we wanted to cancel because we waited for almost 2 hours, the tour guide called my phone about 7-8 times repeatedly and sent me several messages asking me to pay for another tour and that he could come get us later. I blocked him and we carried on about our day. ZERO stars and definitely do not recommend!!!

I apologize for the mistake and the inconvenience this has caused you. Due to an illness that occurred to me for a few days, this page was served by another officer of ours for a few days, but he has been dismissed from our company as he has served irresponsibly. Also we have not confirmed your booking. From this comment of yours, I see that you made this comment out of hatred. I have been doing these services for over ten years now and nothing like this has ever happened before. And as soon as I came to know this, I was informed by a WhatsApp message that this service can be provided to you and that you can provide a car to come from Riu Ahungalle to Udawalawe and you have to make the payment for that coming car . For our service, we will pick you up in the jeep from Udawalawe. Also, if you come from Ahungalle to Udawalawe, you will get the same service. This gives the impression that the comment you have given is an act of low status by a human being. That's because I informed you through WhatsApp app that you can provide this service. When I say that, you don't pay attention to it and ask yourself how easy it is to comment as you want. No problem, I know in my heart that I am fair and it is very unfair to say this when you have the opportunity to get that service. I request all travelers who are viewing this comment to have faith in our company and join us for this service. This is the only valid comment here. From that you can imagine how happy the other tourists who got our service are. Getting comments like this motivates me even more and keeps me going. Thank you very much for this comment.
Great elephant safari

We had a great time on safari with Subhan! He was super knowledgeable about the animals and did his best to find great sights for us. Our favourite moment was when he took us to a group of around 20 elephants who walked right in front of / next to us! We really enjoyed our trip and will book again if we come to Udawalawe again!

Udawalawe (also known as Udawalawa) is a small town located in the southern part of the Ratnapura District in Sri Lanka. It is situated in close to the district's boundary with the Hambantota District and Monaragala District.

The town is the main entry point into the Udawalawe National Park which is a major National Park in Sri Lanka which is renowned for its high population of wild Asian elephants. The Udawalawe National Park located approximately 160 km (99 mi) away from Colombo, is the closest national park to Colombo.
The town is also notable, because of the Uda Walawa Reservoir, which was created in 1969, following the construction of a 3.9 km (2.4 mi) dam and a 6MW hydro-electric plant on the Walawe river. The reservoir is the 3rd largest reservoir in Sri Lanka.
Udawalawa Elephant Orphanage
Sri Lankan elephants (Elephas maximus maximus) are an endangered species and their survival in their natural habitats is threatened due to human activities. Elephants in the wild are constantly being killed, and many elephant calves become orphaned. In order to support these orphaned elephants, the Department of Wildlife Conservation set up the Elephant Transit Home within Udawalawe National Park with help from the Born Free Foundation. [2] The facility was established under the 29th Amendment to the Fauna and Flora Protection Ordinance Part II. [3]
As of 8 February 2009, 39 orphaned elephant calves were being looked after. [4] The elephant calves are released to the jungle after they become strong enough to survive in their natural habitats. As of 2008, sixty-five elephants had been released to the jungle.
