Explore St. Peter's Basilica and Dome like never before, from 136 meters up. Take in Rome's views from high up on a self-guided digital tour.
Situated in Vatican City, St. Peter's Basilica stands as a symbol of both long-standing religious importance and exceptional architectural ingenuity. Initially ordered by Pope Julius II during the 16th century, this grandiose basilica was constructed on the presumed location of Saint Peter's burial ground.
First, climb the dome, and get a close look at the interior mosaics while your audio guide tells you about the church's history. Be amazed by the panoramic views of St Peter's Square and the Vatican Gardens.
After descending from the dome, admire Michelangelo's Pietà, Bernini's Baldacchino, and the final resting places of St Peter and other popes. Using a digital map and 27 designated listening points, the audio tour will lead you on a journey through the basilica's key highlights. Explore the detailed mosaics that grace the interior walls.

You could be waiting in the queue standing for 2 and a half hours. The meeting place is accessible without going through the checkpoint queue to the road around St Peters Square. You can go up the DOME most of the way by lift. You can only see the top dome views through dense bars. The view at the top of the lift is as good in my view. The bascillica and the Dome are great but this activity can be very stressful if health or standing or crowds are s problem.

Very unorganized. Was not impressed. Tour guide basically left my party. Took me forever to catch up to her. And I'm not a slow person.

The tour was delayed starting and after I went through security, I couldn’t find the group anywhere so I didn’t have the ticket for the elevator and dome access. Fortunately one of the guards let me enter with another tour group but unfortunately I missed seeing the dome. The tour was very poorly organized.

Unfortunately, it was not a digital tour. We were merely guided through the various entrances. There were no explanations from the tour guides.
After meeting your tour leader at the bar 'Al San Michele', we'll take you to the Cupola - the dome that dominates the skyline of Rome. As you climb the spiral staircase, you'll be able to admire the intricate details of the Cupola's design up close. Once you reach the top, you'll be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of the Vatican City and beyond.
