Disappointed, and not quite as described

anthonyf55, Oct 2024

Promised a lot...1 hour sailing, each way, 4 hours in Symi, pleasure cruise. Not quite as described. Sailed on Simi2 ro-ro passenger/ cargo ship, as described on marine tracker, just over 2 hours sailing, each way, only 3 hours in Symi, and traveling on rubberised seats,in 24° temperatures, not comfortable. Unfortunately, the only seats we could get were under cover, rear of the two funnels, had to move due to the diesel fumes giving us sore heads, thus standing for the majority of the outward journey.Symi was beautiful, but our shortened trip left us disappointed. I would recomnend double checking all available boats/ tours if considering a trip to Symi, we were disappointed in ours

Nice and well priced

Glick2013, Oct 2024

Nice and well priced. The price includes a pick up from the hotel and a guide. We were supposed to stop also for a swim but it did not happen. The boat is not fast ie 2 hours each direction but it was sold as such. Bottom line we liked it

Terrible excursion wasted money

605anyam, Oct 2024

Terrible dirty old stinkboat, crammed with people, we paid 60 euros (incl trip by bus to port) NEVER again, you are in this dirty boat more than you were on Symi island. Toilets bah bah bah. From 9 in the morning and only back at 6pm it was a wasted day. A bad feeling remains because this was also our last holiday in Rhodes. Maybe old people like this? You better go to the port yourself and book an excursion and not through your tour operator (we were via sunweb) I think they should tell you this with what they are mooring you. dirty old choking boat, wasted money.

Great full day trip

Samantha_J, Oct 2024

A great full day out. The boat ride is approx. 2hours each way. There are plenty of options of where to sit on the boat (inside, undercover, uptop etc). Had 3hours in Symi and 1hour at Panormiti. Received info about timings 2days before the trip and there was a board on the back of the boat with the time of departures on the day so you know when to be back.

Itinerary

  • Homer first mentions the name Symi and the mythical king Nereus in his Iliad, in the list that includes those who participated in the Trojan War.The beautiful island of Symi, also the mythological birthplace of the Three Graces, is a small island in the Dodecanese that maintains its authentic traditional character almost intact. Symi retained the neoclassical style of its architecture, as it was relatively early proclaimed – in 1971 – as a historic settlement listed as a National Monument. That makes the island, unique in the Aegean. The charming Gialos is full of colourful mansions built almost on top of the other, with endless steps, hidden corners and incredible views that will enchant you. Its neoclassical style beauty makes Symi postcard-perfect and strolling down its promenade is a pure delight.
