A great way to explore the city

H1359TAlaurap, Jan 2026

My husband and I had a great time on this tour. It ended up being just the two of us as others had cancelled due to the weather forecast but this did not take away from the experience. Steph is a lovely guide with plenty of interesting knowledge about the history of the local area. It was our first visit to Chester and we were not there very long so it was a great way to see the sights as well as experience some fabulous food and drink venues. We tasted some delicious food and loved the fact that each venue was so different. We also enjoyed hearing about how each venue was established and the back story of the owners. In each place we visited the staff were very friendly and welcoming and it felt like we were just out with friends rather than on a tour which was lovely. My husband particularly liked Brewery Tap, set in a medieval banquet hall, such an interesting history and you could tell that there was a lot of passion that went into producing the amazing food at Greenhouse served with an excellent wine pairing. The cheesecake at Pastry Pédaleur was truly unique and big thank you for the special surprise macaron made for my husband's 40th birthday! Our tour ended with a drink in Providence Gin with some cheese tasting, set in a very special building full of history with a lovely cosy environment, perfect for a very cold day! Between each stop it was nice to have a little stroll and learn about some of the history of the city and some of the special places of interest. It was pitched at just the right level, enough to be interesting but not too much to be information overload! We would not hesitate to recommend this tour to anybody. It was relaxed, fun and informative, a great way to explore a new city! Steph is a wonderful host, very easy to chat to and also pointed out lots of other places to eat and drink while in Chester so we will definitely be back some day to try those out too.

Chester On Plate Food Tour

Great tour of Chester with Steph exploring places that we’d not visited before. We did this as our Christmas party with a group of friends and Steph led the group to the best places to eat, as well as sharing her knowledge of the history of Chester. Living fairly local we came across lots of new places and we are definitely looking forward to going back and sampling more. I would thoroughly recommend taking the Chester tour with Steph, she is a wonderful guide and host.

Best food tours in Chester (tasty & interesting)

gyadalylan, Dec 2025

Steph runs the BEST food tours in Chester! Also, I'm vegetarian and was really pleased with the options offered by all the venues we stopped at. And even though I've been living here for 7 years, I discovered so many interesting facts about Chester, as we walked from one to the next

Tour of hidden gems around Chester with the lovely Steph

K3775IOkerryh, Dec 2025

Delicious food and drink mixed with a tour of Chester City Centre by the knowledgeable and engaging Steph. We all met at Chester information centre, then headed off to Greenhouse, in Rufus court, off Northgate Street. The food was amazing, especially the 5 hour cooked patatas bravas. Served with a crisp refreshing white wine, think it was called tribbiani, delicious anyway. Then had a short tour of Chester, walks and cathedral before we headed to Russell's Thai, Foregate St. Some of us tried the Thai white wine, which was surprisingly good. Served with duck bao buns, the buns were light, fluffy and fresh...delish! We then walked over to lower bridge st, and Brewery Tap...never been there before and lived and worked in Chester for 20years! Great atmosphere in here, such an important and historical building, real treat to go in here. The pie was fab, perfect with the rioja I chose. Then, a bit of history about some of the more haunted places around the area. We then tootled up to Chester Market for the non-sweet toothed persons cheesecake....the cheshire cheese cheesecake....oh my that was good! A little coffee or espresso would've been good, but we were whisked off for a chocolate treat at Sam Joseph's...this really is a special little place, they were that good i treated myself to a box of six chocolates. Tour was finished off with a cocktail at Shrub, I chose an italicus, refreshing citrus flavoured cocktail to wash it all down with. Fab tour, something a little different, where you get to try food in places you had no idea existed, so many hidden gems in Chester. All seamlessly coordinated and hosted by Steph, thanks again ????
