This is the tour where architecture lovers can enjoy the architecture of brutalism and structuralism, that was mostly shaped by ideology of former Yugoslavia.
Get to know architecture of Social Communist times built to represent power of newly created Yugoslavia. Take a look over the Belgrade from observation deck of Avala Telecommunication Tower placed on Belgrade’s tallest mountain.
Cross over the Ada bridge above Sava river. Pass through the gates of Belgrade – Western gate, Genex twin towers connected with bridge on the 26th floor and Eastern Gate, Rudo buildings both built in brutalism style.
You’ll see the “Sava” Center, the project built for the needs of the Conference on European Security and Cooperation. You’ll stand in front of the Palace of Serbia, ex Federal Executive Council, spectacular building of late modernism that shows how design can represent the ruling ideology.

If you have an interest in brutalist architecture and/or seeing more of Belgrade and/or learning more about the recent history of Serbia and Yugoslavia.. this is the tour for you. Our guide Stefan was excellent, so knowledgeable and explained everything in a clear and friendly manner. He could not have been more helpful, it soon felt like a friend was showing us around. Everything ran smoothly and Stefan even shared some online resources after the tour ended so we could maximise our Belgrade experience.
The trip duration from Belgrade city center to Avala Tower is around 30 or 45 minutes.
Take a look over the Belgrade from observation deck of Avala Telecommunication Tower placed on Belgrade’s tallest mountain. Destroyed in NATO bombarding in 1999, it resurrected from the ruins in 2010.
The trip duration from Avala Tower to Eastern Gate is around 30 or 45 minutes.
Eastern City Gate of Belgrade (officially named Rudo) is a complex of three large residential buildings with 85 meters high. Buildings was built in the brutalist style. It is considered one of the symbols of the city and of the Yugoslav Socialism in general.
The trip duration from Eastern Gate to Ada bridge is around 10 or 15 minutes.
Cross over the Ada bridge above Sava River. The bridge that construction is shown on Discovery Channel, and it is the highest single pillion bridge in Europe.

You’ll see the “Sava” Center, the project built for the needs of the Conference on European Security and Cooperation held in Belgrade in 1977, that was first and biggest conference center in former Yugoslavia. Here you can examine structural design of polyhedral buildings of this huge complex.
The trip duration from Sava Center to Palace of Serbia is around 5 minutes.
You’ll stand in front of the Palace of Serbia, ex Federal Executive Council, spectacular building of late modernism that shows how design can represent the ruling ideology. Enormous but elegant structure was the first project of New Belgrade after the WWII.
The trip duration from Palace of Serbia to the Western Gate is around 10 minutes.
The Western City Gate also known as the Genex Tower is a 36-story skyscraper in Belgrade, Serbia, which was designed in 1977 by Mihajlo Mitrović in the brutalist style. It is formed by two towers connected with a two-story bridge.
