Overview
The Hole Escape Room is a fully immersive, state-of-the-art escape room experience, where you get to do the time without committing the crime! An adrenaline filled puzzle-based game set in a dark prison cell, known as The Hole. It’s guaranteed to test your wits as you work together to outsmart The Hole and escape, making your way to freedom.
THE STORY
You’re serving time behind bars, but have become tired of your sentence, you are clever, quick-witted and a notorious escape specialist. You have gained a reputation amongst Prison Officers for being difficult to detain, committing numerous escape attempts from your prison cell.
Now the Governor has had enough. The transfer papers have been signed and you’re heading to the darkness; you’re heading to The Hole.
The Hole is a specially designed prison cell, steel reinforced walls, electronic doors, and pitch black, The Hole is deemed inescapable. Once locked inside, escape is no longer an option.

Might be a bit harsh giving it 3 stars it was really good and our self tour was very good the only thing was the escape room needed a little TLC I won't spoil it because it was really good

We went to the escape rooms for a works party and I have to say I am very underwhelmed. The room probably needed to have some TLC and its was very basic. It was almost like a home made game, no sound effects, Infact there was no sound throughout the prison. A bit of atmospheric music would have added to the scary ambience I think this could have. It was very cold. I was expecting cold, but it was baltic! Wear gloves. It made me just not want to participate a great deal. But no problem, it was fine, I expected cold. Looked forward to the restaurant afterwards that was advertised throughout with a good varied menu with mains etc. Got to the restaurant. It was pretty dark and cold as well, got to the counter, there was a lovely girl on her own, and when I asked for the menu, I was given a choice of chips, cheesy chips or a sausage bap? Nothing else. Nothing that was advertised. After spending £40 on 5 portions of chips, we went straight to McDonalds. I feel like this place has good potential to do well, and the tours seem to have good reviews. But I was very underwhelmed at the escape rooms and restaurant.

Adding music or other immersive features is a great suggestion, and we’ll pass it on to our team as we continue to refine the experience. On the Temperature: We acknowledge that the cold was a significant factor in your visit. While the prison’s conditions are part of its historical authenticity, we understand that the extreme cold can detract from enjoyment. Restoring heating to a site of this age and scale is a challenge we are actively working on, but we do recommend warm clothing and gloves during visits in the meantime. Concerning the Restaurant: We are deeply sorry for the limited menu options you encountered. While our restaurant typically offers a full menu with a variety of choices, it seems there were operational challenges on the day of your visit, which led to the reduced options. We recognise how disappointing this must have been and will review our processes to ensure such issues are minimised in the future. We’re encouraged to hear that you see potential in our venue, and we’re committed to making improvements to deliver a more enjoyable experience for our visitors. The staff were not very welcoming and the room was tired and poorly maintained

Not at all entertaining. Worn out equipment, intercoms which did not work, poor instructions and long response times from staff when shouts or bangs on the door did not work. Its a shame as the prison is really interesting. Don't waste your money on this escape room!

The Hole was easily THE worst escape room I've ever done (and I've done lots). The puzzles were not linear and didn't make sense i.e. a coloured lock not relating to colours!?! The place was freezing cold making focusing on puzzles hard. We got out fairly quickly as there were only about 5 puzzles to solve but probably could have got out within a few minutes if the puzzles actually flowed. There were also 7/8 teams doing rooms at the same time with 1 member of staff available to set up and come to the door with clues when called which meant a lengthy delay if you needed a clue - not ideal at all! oh and we had a hot drink which again was easily the worst hot chocolate and cup of tea we have ever had the pleasure of paying £7 for! In trying to balance the review with a positive - the staff were very nice. The place has potential to be an excellent escape room venue but quite simply they have not made the best of it.
