Nowa Huta is Krakow's communist district designed by the Soviet Union. It is one of only two fully-planned socialist realist settlements. The suburbs of Krakow symbolize the utopian vision of the communist city. Nowa Huta is designed in a homogenous and harmonious way and was supposed to be a proletarian paradise.
Saint Mary's Basilica is a large brick church located in Kraków's Main Market Square - with its most noticeable architectural feature being two towers of different heights. Originally constructed in the 13th century, the church was completely destroyed by the Tartar raids and rebuilt in the 13th century in the Gothic-style.
Kraków's Barbican is one of only three such fortified outposts still surviving in Europe and considered to be the best-preserved. Built at the end of the 15th century, the Gothic-style Barbican features seven turrets and includes 130 defensive slots used by archers.
The Galicia Jewish Museum, located in the historic Jewish district of Kazimierz in Kraków, Poland, is a photo exhibition documenting the remnants of Jewish culture and life in Polish Galicia.
Polish Aviation Museum
The Cloth Hall is located in the center of Krakow's most important square, Rynek Główny, and is the largest building on the square. It is so called because it was originally built to serve as a center for the textile trade, but due to a fire in 1555 it was almost entirely destroyed and later rebuilt.
The Old Synagogue was built between the 15th and 16th centuries, and is the oldest synagogue in Krakow and Poland. The synagogue, located in the Kazimierz district and until 1939 was considered a temple, while now it is a museum dedicated to the history of Krakow's Jews. It is undoubtedly one of the most important and valuable monuments of Jewish architecture in Europe.
The Rynek Underground Museum of Krakow is located right under the central square of the city, a good four meters below the surface and is very extensive: over 6000 square meters. The museum was opened on 24 September 2010, and due to its popularity and the fact that admission is limited to just 300 people at a time, you need to buy timed tickets in advance to visit it.
