Sachsenhausen (Paul our Tour Guide)

462claressaj, Jan 2025

We had Paul as our tour guide and he was sensational. He was very knowledgeable and informative of the history of the camp, as well as the history of Germany and its involvement in WW2. We were fortunate to have him lead us. We would recommend Birchy’s Berlin Tours for this camp as it was a small group, which allowed for more questions and discussions with our guide. Thanks Paul!

Great tour, amazingly knowledgeable guide

We got lucky, just two people on our tour, with Julian. It was on the same day the 35th anniversary of the wall coming down, 9 November, another momentous day in Berlin. We learned so much and were regularly aghast at the horrific events of the past. Kudos to Julian for his amazing knowledge and flexibility in varying the speed of the tour to refleft out interests. This is our second tour with Birchys - we're very impressed with them.

Definitely worth a trip.

A sobering experience, but absolutely a must do, in my opinion. Our guide Steve was very knowledgeable and very personable. He made sure we were well taken care of with food, drinks and bathroom breaks. He also stressed the universality of the horror, that it wasn’t only a German problem but a human problem, and the necessity of empathy in every day life in order to prevent such atrocities from occurring, otherwise, any one can be converted into a monster.

Excellent guide!

Paul was our guide. Punctual, engaging, scholarly. We very much appreciated his accompaniment. He was very generous in his explanations. It easily adapts to all levels of questions (16 years, parents and grandparents). We highly recommend Paul as a guide.
