This tour is an absolute must when visiting Cape Town especially for African Americans. Its 14 course meal is well worth it. I am an foody and everything was absolutely delicious. And the entertainment very authentic.

I waited a few days to write this review because I wanted to make sure me and my family processed everything. The tour guide company was Matadi Africa And Travel and I was not a fan. I typically will reuse tour companies and refer to my friends that are visiting the country but in this case I will never use or refer them. While on this vacation 3 out of the 6 who traveled became sick, I understand that this was a non refundable tour however I communicated this information to this company and they really didn’t care. He was just like owe well you are going to be charged anyway, thank you and good buy…if I’m telling you half my party is sick I felt like there should have been more empathy. As a result me and my family still decided to attend this Dinner and Dance Show sick because we didn’t want to loose the 98 dollars per person. This was supposed to be our finally trip dinner as we were leaving to head back home the next day. Upon arrival the people were very nice, they accommodated my older cousin by taking him on a lift so he wouldn’t have to do the stairs. Our waitress was very nice. Everything was going well until the young lady who comes around and pants your face came. My brother asked her if the face painting was for both men and women all of a sudden she appeared to be very nervous and her eyes looked to water and she was shaking her head no…My family.. Including my brother was so confused. She finally came to me and started painting my face and at the time she told me my brother offended her…I was genuinely confused because my brother is respectful and our mother was with us. He’d never disrespect a young lady. She then told me he made a hand gesture that was obscene…At this point me, my brother and family was so confused because we are not aware of any hand gestures that was offensive that he made intentionally. She showed me the gesture and stated it means that a man is asking for sexual relations…I immediately told her that this was a misunderstanding and that my brother would never do that…she insisted that he did. (My brother has a nervous twitch and shakes his hands and legs a lot when he is sitting still) I believe his hands may have unintentionally seemed to be making that gesture but in reality it was nothing he was trying to do or gesture he was trying to make at her. The face painter was visible disturbed and said she was going to tell her manager. While the young lady was visibly disturbed my brother was disturbed also because at this point he is being accused of something that he has no clue of what he did. Our family felt really bad for her. it appeared to be a reminder of something in her past. But as I stated my brother would never ask her for anything sexual as my mother was there at dinner with us and he would never disrespect a lady. This totally ruined the experience for my brother and my family. We couldn’t even enjoy the show and my mother was also visibly upset because we are in another country and her son is being accused of something that he didn’t even know he unintentionally did with his hands. We informed the waitress and the manager and they were very nice in explaining to us what the obscene gesture meant that the face painted thought my brother did to her. They were extremely nice but unfortunately it still ruined our experience. We wanted to leave immediately but they did ask us to stay but after the accusation it just wasn’t a good experience. We really do appreciate Floyd and how nice he was and even taking pictures with our family at the end of the show. He was very nice. We felt really bad for the face painter but we are a Christian family, there was a pastor in our group as well as my mother and making an obscene hand gesture to insinuate sex to a woman is just not something my brother would ever do on a family vacation in front of our mother or ever in life period. My mom made my brother put his hands under the table because she was so fearful of what unintentionally hand gesture that he may make. We were told that women could go to the police to report sexual harassment if a man did that to them. This was very scary being that we were so far from home and we know he didn’t do this to the face painter intentionally. I will say under normal circumstances we would have more than likely enjoyed the show. I would still go for the experience but just make sure you look up things that’s offensive in the country. The food wasn’t the best but that could have been a result of our experience on the last day of our family vacation. As a family we genuinely prayed and hope the face painter is ok and that she eventually understood that my brother was not making any advancement toward her. If you ever read this we genuinely hope you are ok.
