Overview

Get a glimpse of local life in Bangkok on this guided tour of the Thonburi district’s canals by traditional longtail boat. Lasting around 2 hours, and with your choice of departure times throughout the day, it’s easy to fit in your schedule.

Meet your licensed English speaking guide near Wat Pho and walk together as a group to board your longtail boat. Soak up the sights and scenes of local life as you cruise along the canals.

At Baan Silapin (The Artist’s House), you’ll have enough time to walk around the historic and restored wooden house and learn more about Thai culture. The boat tour also passes by the Wat Paknam Phasi Charoen, with a stop to take photos of the temple’s massive Buddha statue.

The tour ends back at the departure point.

Very fun and relaxing way to see some of the charming quite little neighborhoods of Bangkok. And Joe was a super guide, thoughtful, professional, and charming in his own right. I highly recommend this tour!

Itinerary

  • Baan Silapin

Located on the banks of Klong Bang Luang on the Thonburi side of the Chao Phraya River, Baan Silapin (The Artist’s House) is a hidden gem devoted to preserving Thai culture. Here you'll experience what life in Bangkok was like before the concrete jungle took hold.

The wooden house, over 200 years old and lovingly restored by its owner, sits at the heart of a small community of rustic shophouses which are connected by a wooden walkway that follows the edge of the klong (canal).

    25 minutes
  • We pass Wat Paknam Phasi Charoen, built in the mid-Ayutthaya period in the Phasi Charoen District in Thonburi. The boat driver will stop the boat so that you can take a good photo of the huge Buddha statue at this temple. The Buddha statue is towering nearly 70 meters above the ground, the height of a 20-story building, and it is Bangkok's biggest Buddha image, with a width of 40 meters in its cross-legged meditation posture.
