Sumo is a Japanese style of full-contact wrestling that requires immense strength and skill. Few travelers are lucky enough to see behind the scenes of a sumo stable (training hall)—considered a sacred space. On this insightful tour, see behind the scenes and visit the sumo stable of Tatsunami-beya—accompanied by a National Government Licensed English Guide Interpreter—and watch sumo wrestlers train during morning practice. Better still, this sumo stable is home to an active Yokozuna, the highest rank in professional sumo. Afterwards, snap a picture with the wrestlers and shop exclusive mementoes.

To be a fly on the wall in such an amazing space was great enough, but to have the informative commentary and history given to us via earpiece for the whole duration made it even better. I was bummed the two times we've been to Japan were out of sumo season, but this opportunity was a totally worthwhile replacement. I can't recommend it enough to anyone even casually interested in sumo.

This is a fascinating insight into sumo and felt like a real privilege to see the wrestlers going through their paces. It was well narrated by our host. Very informative. Thoroughly recommended.

If you enjoy going to the gym and watching guys work out, this is the tour for you. You sit in total silence while 6-8 sumo trainees do exercises. That’s it. Wish I’d found a sumo tour with a little more going on.

Incredible experience! Getting that close to the rikishi during practice. Guides were super friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommended! The narration during practice is perfect for those who know little about sumo and still had great information for longer time fans. Mario was a fantastic guide!
