I went on a self-guided rather than organised tour where you are given a map and left to explore on your own and at your own pace. A truly fascinating visit giving an insight into prison life and how it has changed over time; I'm very glad I've managed to stay on the straight and narrow so far! Very chilling to have stood in the execution room where they used to hang unfortunate prisoners,

Great visit, although we wish we had done the guided tour really interesting insight as to the life of a prisoner. If this place in not an insensitive to behave yourself on the outside, then I don’t know what is ???? We will definitely be returning for the guided tour!

Thank you Heather for taking the time to write such a thoughtful review! We are delighted to see that you are definitely returning for a Guided Tour in the near future, we would fully recommend it. Why not make a day out of it and check out one of our Escape Rooms whilst you’re here too? Kind regards, Jade.

We visited here whilst staying local. The lady who checked us in-so sorry we didn’t get a name! She had handcuffs earrings and cracked a Shakin Steven’s joke, was excellent, very knowledgeable and informative. We toured the prison in our own and enjoyed all of it, the only downside was the cold but this is no one’s fault, just wrap up warm before you go!

Thank you Sam for your thoughtful review. We’re thrilled to hear that not only did you have a very welcoming arrival to the site, but you have also had a very memorable experience behind bars as a whole! We will be sure to pass across your feedback to the team, with a special Shout Out to Sharon on your behalf. In the future, if you do consider returning for more, why not come down during the warmer months and see how much a difference a cooler builder can make! Kind regards, Jade.

What a great place to visit and see what a more modern prison is like. We enjoyed seeing the cells through the years, learn about healthcare in prison and seeing all the different areas of a prison including sitting in the prison van! It felt like some areas had been left as they were when it closed.
