Meet your private guide by Salzburg’s Café Glockenspiel, and head out to explore the narrow lanes that zigzag through the Old Town. Walk past wealthy burgher houses fronted with Baroque facades, and admire Salzburg’s commercial center, which has retained its medieval charm.
After passing through the bustling Getreidegasse shopping district, you’ll work your way to Mozart’s Birthplace. Hear about Mozart’s childhood and his family, and learn about other Classical composers from Salzburg such as Michael Haydn.
Stroll onward to St. Peter’s Abbey, one of the oldest Benedictine abbeys in Austria, and learn a little more of the city’s history from your guide. Over the centuries, Salzburg has been known for its medieval salt trade, advances in medicine, and its links to the Sound of Music — the city provided the filming locations for the timeless wartime tale.
After three hours, your tour ends in the center of the Old Town.

Liza was a wonderful and informative guide. It was extremely cold, frigid even, but she kept our spirits up and as we walked, looked for the sunniest spots to stop in.

We had a wonderful tour of Salzburg with Carolin through Insight Cities - small group (also recommended), just me, my wife and Carolin. Her knowledge of and enthusiasm for the city was infectious.

We had a great tour of Salzburg old town with Lisa! We were the only persons in our small group tour, so she customized it to what we wanted to see and learn about. Lisa was very knowledgeable and kept us engaged with the history, rumors and the exciting events and people of historic Salzburg!
