Informative, funny & a grand day out!

Pamela_C, Sept 2024

What an amazing day we had! Margarita was a fountain of knowledge and an absolute star! She gave us so much information at each spot I don’t know how she does it! We had such a laugh and her Impressions of F1 GP cars as we were going around Monoco had us in stitches. She is a star!

Dishonest Tour Operator

Gretchen_F, Jul 2024

The tour operator replied to my truthful one star review with attacks on the facts. Everything he stated was actually untrue and he had the nerve to ask me to be honest! Why would I have any reason not to be truthful? On the other hand, he has every reason to put the blame on us for a bad experience. We only ever asked for or expected what we reserved and paid for…three private tours in vans holding eight passengers each visiting six places along the French Riviera as described. We never asked or wanted the 24 people to be put all together on a big bus! The tour was at 9:00 a.m. and the ship was in port until 7:00 p.m… plenty of time for an 8-hour tour. Not 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. as he claims. Again, we reserved three vans with eight passengers each. I received a message via email at 9 p.m…thirty six hour before our tour…stating he had one guide and two 8-passenger vans unavailable and offered a big bus or four 7-passenger vans for our 24 people. Those were the tour operator’s options to solve his problem. We informed him we would take the four 7-passenger vans to accommodate our three reservations (24 people total), but certainly would not pay another 500 euros for him to solve his problems. He never replied, sent two vans accommodating 15, then one more accommodating another 7. Viator has a record of all his correspondence and my replies continuing to request a private 8-hour tour with vehicles to accommodate 24 people in a minimum of three vehicles (exactly what we reserved 1 1/2 years in advance). I never changed my mind even one time. There was no need for any correspondence in advance except for the fact that the tour operator was the one (not me) who kept trying to change the dynamics of this reservation and last minute scrambled to solve his own problems due to a guide and two 8-passenger vans being unavailable. I have used Viator tours for many ports on this nine-month world trip and this is the only one that was a stressful ordeal, wasting far too much of my time.

Stressful Ordeal!

Gretchen_F, Jul 2024

I am giving this one star because of the tour operator. We booked three groups of eight 1 1/2 years in advance. A couple weeks before the tour they informed us they had a bus for all 24 of our “group”. FYI: We are in a nine month world cruise and none of these people even knew each other when we booked this. That was NOT what we reserved and did not want a big bus that would have trouble parking for photo stops and in the cities. We expected three small groups of eight. They agreed to three vans. Then 36 hours before the tour they informed me they had a guide that had an “operation” and a van that had an “incident”, so two vans were not available. So we had a choice of one bus or four vans which each held seven, but we would need to pay 500 euros more for the four vans. I informed them we wanted the small vans but would absolutely not pay 500 euros more. All of the problems were theirs not ours. They never replied and we were not sure if they would even show up in the morning or what they would provide. They surprisingly did show up with one eight passenger van and one seven passenger van. That covered 15 of the 24 booked. They said two more were coming, but only one more seven passenger van showed up when they discovered two people were unable to make the tour. They said they would send another sedan to hold three people for another 500 euros. We possibly could have replaced last minute the two seats we had “reserved” as initially we had 10 people on a wait list, but like I said, I was not even sure the vans (or bus) would even show up! More importantly, we had already wasted so much time dealing with the nasty, rude attitude of the tour provider and the three guides were caught in the middle. Basically, they did not provide seats for the number we reserved. Additionally, the tour description listed six places we would visit. Besides a couple quick photo stops (with the smaller vans) we had 30 minutes at Eze, 30 minutes in Monaco and 30 minutes in Monte Carlo and that took the full eight hours. One guide thought it was a 5 1/2 hour tour and when he was shown the description and all the places we were to go he stated “it would take two days to do all that!” The three guides ranged from very good to somewhat poor. Bottom line, the whole experience seemed like a bait and switch. They definitely over promised and under delivered. It was a frustrating, stressful ordeal!

Dear Customer, Thank you for taking your time to write this on internet. I'd like to share about our experience with your groupe as well so the other customers will have their own opinions. You have made a reservation where is written in special instructions that you want to be together, but then about 1 month before the tour you have sent an email to find out if everything was organized or no. We have replied you that everything is organized the bus and the guide. You told us that you want to be in separate vans. The answer was that we'll organize everything . You have made a reservation for 24 passengers , we have suggested you if you want to have more space we can book for you 4 vans but of course 4th van will be extra as 3 vans by 8 passengers is enough for 24 passengers. 8x3 =24 seats. You told us no we dont want extra van we want only for 24 passengers. Once at port you where only 21 passengers , you have got 3 mercedes V classes and the 4 van stayed at port because it was principal for us as well when you told us on phone that you want another van for free because it's more comfortable. You have changed your decision so many times that I'm very sure that not so much tour operators are answering to you emails after 18:00 pm and changing all the time the options. What about the tous duration. yes we want to show you whole French Riviera but it's not the fault of guide that you have to be back at port by 17:00 and you have left the port by 10:00. We have done our maximum and doing to satisfy all our customers but we are not accepting and will not accept to be treated like nothing. You have made the day of other tour members stressing. You are telling that the guide told you that he or she needed 2 days to cover all the area but meanwhile the same guide managed to show other customers during half day more then 5 cities. Maybe it's time to be honest !!!!!!!

10/10: Best decision on whole trip!

This excursion was easily the highlight of our entire Mediterranean cruise. Jerome picked us up promptly at our meeting time and place, and escorted us to his clean, comfortable van, with plenty of space to accommodate our family of 8. Jerome is a wonderful communicator and made an effort to connect with each of us individually while sharing the history and significance of each of our stops, including Antibes, Monaco and St. Paul de Vence. I most appreciated Jerome's care and consideration to make sure my dad was comfortable, as he needs a cane for support after recent hip surgery. Jerome couldn't be quicker to offer a step stool and assistance getting in and out of the vehicle. He allowed us time to rest and soak in the culture and offered to take our family photos at all the most picturesque locales. We immensely enjoyed our day with our personable guide. Jerome was responsible with our return time and offered us cold water throughout our journey. This private excursion is the most wonderful memory of our 10-day cruise, we will never choose an over-booked, over-priced, canned excursion offered by the cruise lines again. Thank you, Jerome!
