This full-day excursion begins with a tour guide meet and greet at Marienplatz, the main square in central Munich. After boarding a train there, it’s approximately a 20-minute ride north to Dachau.
The Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site was the first Nazi concentration camp in Germany during the Holocaust. It served as a model for all the other camps that followed it. See the photographs, documents, reconstructed cell blocks, crematorium, administration headquarters and much more on a tour of both the camp and museum.
Find out little-known facts about the well-known Nazis linked to this site, like Heinrich Himmler, the guard who started the camp. And listen to the heart-wrenching stories of some of Dachau’s 200,000 prisoners — communists, German dissidents, gay men, Jehovah’s Witnesses, as well as Jewish and Polish men and women. It’s a chilling reminder of the events that took place here.
After touring the site, return to the train station with the guide for a trip back to Munich. Following a break for lunch (own expense), take a Third Reich walking tour through the city. See where Hitler joined the German Workers Party, where the infamous German SS began and much more.

Alan was our tour guide and right off the bat I could tell he’s a very seasoned guide. I have been all over the world and have done all different types of tours. He’s by far one of my favorite. He said he’s been giving tours for 19 years and it shows. The questions were insightful, all while being very respectful about the subject. I would not do this tour without a guide. There was just so much information and it helped give it much more meaning and left a lasting impact. Alan was just an all-around great person.

Thanks Kimberly, it was great to meet you and your son on the tour. I am delighted that you got value from your experience. The feedback I am getting suggests people are happy to pay slightly more for a small grouo experience to get more out of the tour. All the best.

Alun was an amazing tour guide. There were only 5 of us on the tour and he was so knowledgeable and made the whole tour seamless from meeting, to the train rides, and the tour itself. He was so friendly and made it easy to ask questions. If/when I go back to Munich, I will absolutely do another tour with Alun!

The guide Alun was very informative and knowledgeable about the background history of the tour and answered all the additional questions asked. He new all short cuts and ways to minimise the amount of people congregating in one location.
