Had a great time, both being dressed and photographed in kimonos and learning about traditional Japanese tea ceremonies. the hosts were very welcoming, and we'd highly recommend this experience to others.

Amazing Cultural Experience

Veronica_F, Jun 2026

A truly unique experience! Our hosts helped us pick kimonos and dress in traditional Japanese style. My daughter and I enjoyed learning about the history and tradition of kimono and the history of the Japanese tea ceremony. Our hosts were knowledgeable, patient and kind truly a unique experience.

A real authentic experience with wearing kimonos and the green tea ceremony

343rebekahs, Jun 2026

I had a great time with Toku and his wife at the kimono shop. They made me feel welcome as I had always wanted to try out a kimono and learn how to do the Matcha ceremony properly. Trying on kimonos and picking out the right one was a wonderful experience as it was the only day I could fit it in my time in Kyoto. I got to post for photos as well as go through the ceremony myself一I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to try but is worried about the language barrier! Also is located conveniently a few blocks away from the Hankyu一Kyoto line and shops.
