The combination of the Māori Village and the Polynesian Spa makes for a pretty special experience, so it’s great to hear it all came together so well for you. Jaime will really appreciate your kind words. He puts a lot of effort into making sure everyone feels comfortable, informed, and included throughout the day, so it’s nice to hear that made a difference. Keeping things running smoothly while still making it feel relaxed is something he takes a lot of pride in. It’s also great to hear the day felt well organised and that you always knew what was coming next — that can really help you just settle in and enjoy everything. Thank you for sharing this — it’s really nice to read. An early start, but it sounds like the day delivered. The Māori village experience is always something special, especially hearing the stories of culture and resilience firsthand, so we’re glad that stood out for you. And Wai-O-Tapu never disappoints — those sulphur craters and hot pools are pretty incredible to see up close. Great to hear your guide on the 6th made such a positive impact as well. Keeping everything running smoothly while making sure everyone feels safe and looked after is a big part of the day, so that will mean a lot to him. Thanks again for coming along — really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience.

This is an ORIGINAL VILLAGE, with actual tribes people living in it. Buildings are original and old. You get a great sense of the passion the Māori people have for their culture and sharing about it. The “other tour” or village is just built for commercial use to sell to tourists. But thie experience is TRUE and with original buildings. I highly recommend this TRUE to the Māori people tour. My tour guides Mother was born in this village and his father was from a tribe at a different village. He was humorous, humble and had a vast amount of knowledge. The ceremony with the traditional Haka song and dance was AMAZING! I LOVE watching the Rugby Haka performances before each match, but it was moving for them to give the explanation and story behind it. Especially why it’s important to stick the tongue out. Lol The love song they sang after was so beautiful that it brought me to tears. Great singing voices and moving love story…I’m surprised Disney hasn’t picked up this story and made an animated movie! LOVE THE VILLAGE, can’t wait to come back and eat some more fresh made corn from the streaming pools. Best made corn!

Thank you so much for such a heartfelt and thoughtful review. It really means a lot to read this. You’ve captured exactly what makes the village so special. It’s not a staged or recreated experience — it’s a real, living community, and the people who share it with visitors do so with genuine pride and passion for their culture. Hearing that this came through so strongly for you is wonderful. It’s also great to hear how much the storytelling and performances resonated with you. The haka, especially when you understand the meaning behind it, can be incredibly powerful, and that love song has a way of staying with people long after the day ends. The connection, the emotion, and the history behind it all really do make it something unforgettable. And we love that you mentioned the corn — it’s a simple thing, but it’s such a unique and authentic part of the experience (and yes, it really is delicious!). Thank you again for sharing this. We’re so glad the day meant so much to you, and we’d love to welcome you back again in the future.
