Schloss Mirabell & Mirabellgarten

The Mirabell Palace (Castle Mirabell) and the associated gardens are among Salzburg's most famous sights and are an absolute must for visitors to the city. The magnificent Baroque castle was built in 1606 by Prince-Archbishop Wolf Dietrich von Raitenau and is centrally located on Mirabellplatz.

1. Mirabell garden:
The Mirabell Garden is world famous for its geometrically designed flower beds, ornate sculptures and impressive fountains. The Pegasus Fountain, which gained international fame through the film “The Sound of Music”, is particularly well known.
2. Marble hall:
Inside the castle is the magnificent Marble Hall, an impressive banquet hall that is now used as a wedding and concert hall. Considered one of the most beautiful wedding halls in the world, it offers a unique ambience with magnificent ceiling frescoes and marble statues.
