Arrived into a refuge during an afternoon rain -- my tasting station had been set up with 7 mezcals and accompanying mole samples to taste. Each pairing was remarkably different and delicious. Carlos is very fun to chat with, is very knowledgeable, and gave some suggestions for later activities.

This was a super fun experience and one I would definitely recommend when visiting Oaxaca. Our group was small it was myself and another couple who were really sweet. I loved that our group was small because it allowed us to go at our own pace, ask questions, and have more personalized conversation with our host. I think her name was Marisol, but I could totally be remembering incorrectly. I enjoyed tasting all of the different moles and mezcals and learning more about their origin, flavor profiles, and history. In total we had a welcome drink and tried 7 different mezcals and moles. I did not feel rushed at all during this experience, which I really appreciated. Also, I have to give a special thanks to the person who I think was the owner? As I was traveling by myself he helped me navigate an uncomfortable taxi situation, advocated on my behalf, and gave me advice for helping me safely get to my next destination. I really appreciated that extra support and attention as a solo, female traveler. If I were to come back to Oaxaca I would look for other experiences this company provides.

What a great experience! We had no idea there was such a variety of mezcal, let alone mole! Daniel Rodriguez Gonzales, the sommelier, did a fantastic job of explaining the differences and the best ways to enjoy the mezcals and moles together. And everything was so well and beautifully organized that it made all the complexities enjoyable rather than confusing. I highly recommend this experience!
