The perfect tour

848katjaj, Sept 2025

I am so happy we booked this tour, a wonderful experience! Learned so much about this city, about its history, people, different cultures, architecture, ordinary life today...And the food!! Every bite was exciting, delicious and truly authentic. Our guide Chloe took us to places we never would have found ourselves, though we are seasoned travellers and have visited the city earlier. Even the serious foodie in our team was thrilled - something quite rare ????

The best way to start our visit to Marseille

One of the best food tours we have experienced. Good balance between food, culture and history. Coco was a friendly and knowledgeable guide and super helpful with ideas for the rest of our stay.

Wonderful walking tour with wonderful food!

Our guide Chloe was terrific — informative, personable, articulate, and fun. We ate delicious food in places we never would have found without her. Toured stores that introduced us to new things. Culture, cuisine, history all in one!

Fantastic Afternoon Learning about Marseille!!!

Love2travelfromNYC, Sept 2025

Our guide, Coco (Corinne) was amazing! She brought us into not only the culinary history of Marseille, but used it to help us learn about the historical context in the city as well as the current life. She was so generous with her time and knowledge. We explored many areas of Marseille that we never would have found on our own. A perfect way to spend our first day. Definitely a day for a light dinner later on, as the tastings were plentiful and delicious. Merci beaucoup! Highly, highly recommend! Point to know - the meeting point was at the top of the grand stairs (which was not clear from the GPS coordinates). Suggestion to enhance the meet up instructions to include more than just the GPS/address.

Response from Host, Sept 2025

Thank you so much for this fantastic review — we’re delighted to hear your tour with Coco was such a rich and rewarding experience! Coco has a gift for connecting Marseille’s vibrant culinary landscape with its deep cultural and historical roots, and we’re so glad that resonated with you. We take pride in working with guides who are both incredibly knowledgeable and genuinely passionate about their cities, and your words capture that beautifully. That you chose to spend your first day in Marseille with us means a lot — and yes, we agree: light dinner only after this tour! Also, thank you for the helpful note about the meeting point. We’re always working to improve clarity in our instructions and will take this into account to make things smoother for future guests. Don’t forget to check out your Culinary Backstreets Passport on our website to see all the delicious stamps you’ve collected in Marseille’s multicultural stew!
