Overview

Head northwest from Edinburgh for a jam-packed day of extraordinary mountain ranges, lochs, and Highland castles. This tour takes you through historic Stirlingshire, home of William Wallace, to the famous Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park and on to the West Highlands. Explore the charming Highland villages of Inveraray and Luss, travel through Campbell country to Kilchurn Castle on the shores of Loch Awe, and soak up some of the most stunning views of the Scottish Highlands along the way.

  • Castles, Mountain Ranges, Charming Towns and Stunning Views

    We depart Edinburgh and head northwest, through famous Stirlingshire, home of legendary Scottish warrior William Wallace. Our first stop is *Doune where you have the option to visit Doune Castle*, one of Scotland’s best-preserved medieval castles and filming location for Outlander, Game of Thrones and Monty Python. *: Please note that in April and May, we will be visiting Linlithgow Palace instead of Doune Castle. Linlithgow Palace, the birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots and a filming location for Outlander, requires a local entry fee.We keep heading west, through Scotland’s famous Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, home to the stunning West Highland mountain ranges, lochs, and castles. Travelling through Campbell country, feast your eyes on Kilchurn Castle on the shores of Loch Awe.Journey south to Loch Fyne for a lunch stop at the charming town of Inveraray, where you have the chance to visit Inveraray Jail, hailed as one of the world’s most well-preserved courtrooms and jails.After lunch, we head back east and take in the iconic beauty spot Rest and Be Thankful, which has stunning views of the Arrochar Alps. The beautiful conservation village of Luss, on the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond, is our final stop before we head back to Edinburgh, arriving in the evening. Arrive back in Edinburgh around 6:30pm.*Please note that there may be instances where Doune Castle is closed due to estate and filming activities. In those cases, we will be visiting Linlithgow Palace instead of Doune Castle (exterior only). Linlithgow Palace is the birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots and a filming location for Outlander. You can check availability for Doune Castle at the time of booking.Check in at 7:30am for the 8:00am departure from 60 High Street, Edinburgh, EH1 1TB We are unable to hold the bus or refund for any late arrivals. Return times are approximate and subject to road conditions and weather.   • Those who are 17 years old pay the adult price, but need to be accompanied by someone aged 18 or over.
  • Collapsible wheelchairs can be accommodated providing the passenger is accompanied by someone who can assist them to board and disembark.
  • Highland hotels and guesthouses do not have lifts/elevators. Guests should be able to walk up steps in order to access rooms.
  • The summer and winter itinerary vary slightly.
