Considered the “Western Marvel”, the Mont Saint-Michel is a tidal island surrounded by moving sands and crashing waves. One of the most visited places in France, the island is located about one km off the country’s north western coast between Normandy and Brittany. Most of the time, the site is surrounded by sandbanks and only becomes an island when the tides are high.
