The tour starts in front of Pirbadet. It continues to a modern part of the city called Solsiden where many locals spend their free time enjoying themselves outside the cafés and restaurants. We proceed along the river Nid and the colorful warehouses. After that we head to one of the oldest areas of the town – Bakklandet – which has managed to preserve its charming wooden architecture. In Bakklandet is where you also find the world's only bicycle lift. We leave Bakklandet behind crossing over the famous old town bridge with "The Portal of Happiness". Then we arrive at Nidaros Cathedral, Norway's national monument. Nidaros Cathedral is built over the tomb of St. Olav, Norway's patron saint. We carry on to the Market Square (Torget). Here, the Viking King Olav Tryggvason, the city's founder, is enthroned above the vibrant square in the shape of a statue. Our next stop is Stiftsgården, the royal residence, and passing Britannia Hotel before heading back to the harbour.

Well-paced and informative walk through Teonheim. We felt we gained knowledge about the town without being overwhelmed with facts and figures. The tour was exactly what we hoped for.

We had a wonderful walking tour of Trondheim with Paulo! He was a wealth on knowledge and showed us the best the city has to offer on a beautiful summer day. We felt more confident walking around town on our own for the rest of our stay.

Nice walking tour of Trondheim, leisurely pace, plenty of information to absorb and lots of pictures to take. Trondheim is a very walkable town.

The guide Gale didn’t have an in-depth knowledge on the area that he was guiding. A clear example of this was he took us to a statue in the middle of town, and when asked what the name of the person was, he said “I’m sorry I can’t remember, it’s a Norwegian name.” The guide was from France. Gabe lacked direction and confidence, and there were many, many awkward silences. Gabe knew a small script with each stop, but struggled to provide information or answers outside of this. He labelled the cathedral as the burial place of the wrong king. His presentation I.e. wearing an old Star Wars tshirt further added to the lack of professionalism in this company. I have probably done 20 walking tours across the world, and unfortunately this one was the most lacking and disappointing. We left the tour early, and immediately contacted the tour company and they were very apologetic at first, then they became distant and unprofessional and sadly refused a refund.
We will see the "sunny side" of Trondheim, a charming and vibrant district with a lot of restaurants and coffee shops.
This part of town used to be the working class district. The former industrial buildings are now popular and modern apartments. The charming wooden architecture has been preserved over the years despite fires and massive building projects.
The red old town bridge is known as a "portal of happiness" and for the only bicycle lift in the world beside it. We will have a wonderful view of the old warehouses from the bridge.
Nidaros Cathedral is one of Scandinavia’s most stunning and magnificent cathedral as well as the best well-preserved Gothic building in Northern Europe.
The Market square is the heart of the city with a statue of the founder Olav Tryggvason. Here we find the main shopping mall and a lot of nice restaurants.
Stiftsgården is the royal residence in Trondheim if the royal family is in town. We will walk through the beautiful garden.
