There aren’t enough superlatives to describe how awesome this excursion was! We loved it all. The speedboat experience was simply amazing and words can’t describe the awe of the fjord. I was glad to have brought my earmuffs and gloves and hat. The goggles didn’t fit over my sunglasses but the sunglasses worked fine.

I was upgraded to include the shuttle bus and snack. The bus ride was in a new Mercedes and quite pleasant. There's just one stop, but going through the famous tunnel was a cool experience. The speed boat was fabulous probably in great part because it wasn't crowded! All but two people sat in the from if the boat, leaving all of the boat for me and one other person to move around taking pictures and laying back. The guide opened the top of the boat for us to look and maneuvered the boat so everyone got great photos and great views. I had a fabulous time! I wish I could spend my life on these shores.

There are plenty of options to visit Lysefjord by boat and see Preikestolen from below. This trip in my opinion was the best option of all. The boat is brand new, very comfortable with cover in the event of rain and yet travels incredibly fast. They have a permanent building at the harbour wth bar and seating areas and changing rooms. They equip you with dry suits, gloves, and goggles. The skipper was Kjetil who was friendly, informative and made the trip a truly memorable experience. Some boats may be a little cheaper, but you only do this trip once. So I recommend booking with this team. We were very lucky as there were only 5 of us on the boat.

Firstly, we were really happy and grateful to be collected from our ship and dropped back after the activity. We were docked in the neighboring town of Sandnes and were pleasantly surprised to be collected as it was a 15 minute drive away. We were given warm and waterproof suits to wear which made us very comfortable. We also had a choice between sitting in front of the boat or inside which was able to be sheltered from the wind and rain. Captain Jim was a great source of information about the area and was able to drive up close to the cliffs to show us points of interest. The weather was uncertain so the prior communications whether the activity was still happening was most appreciated. All in all the activity was a great experience and highly recommended.
The tour start in our boathouse in Strandkaien 34, located in the heart of Stavanger harbour and a very short walking distance from the cruise terminal. Here you will be able to sit down and relax, use our WC, put on the floating suit etc. You will also meet the captain which will help you to put on the safety equipment. He will also give you a small safety brief before boarding the boat. We start off slowly by gliding out of Stavanger harbour while passing mighty cruiseships or other vessels. On the way out you will have a beautiful view of the city centre and to some of the iconic buildings like "Tollboden" and the Norwegian oil museum. After we pass the bridge you will see a gigantic street art painting before we then accelerate to a thrilling 25-35 knots and head to Lysefjorden. Note: due to capacity restraints and regulations we might have to depart from another dock nearby. Fjord Xplore will provide free transfer (<5 min. drive).
The Lysefjord, spanning an impressive 42 kilometers, is a marvel of natural beauty nestled in the heart of Norway. The fjord, carved by glaciers during the last Ice Age, showcases a dramatic landscape where steep mountains, adorned with lush emerald forests and cascading waterfalls, rise sharply from pristine waters.
World renowned natural formations draw thousands to the fjord every year, including Pulpit Rock, a flat topped cliff offering breathtaking views.
As you venture through its narrow corridor, you’ll be on the lookout for the bustling wildlife that inhabits the region. On a good day it will be possible to spot seals, porpoises, sea eagles, and more.
Learn about this fascinating cave and gaze at the spectacular rock formations there.
Behold one of Norway's most famous landmarks; Preikestolen (Pulpit Rock). Learn about how Lysefjord and Preikestolen were formed and the legends surrounding it.
Discover the secrets about what went on at this waterfall and how it got its nickname "Whiskey falls". Feel (and taste) the waterspray. The waterfall stands 75m tall and is unique in that it's not a single, uniform cascade. Instead, it's a complex system of streams and falls that weave together to create a truly mesmerizing sight. As the water pours down the cliff face, it creates a mist that shrouds the mountainside in an ethereal haze.
