El Escorial is worth it’s own visit

Ryan_C, May 2023

We chose to take this private tour because all of the other tours include a stop at Valle de los Caídos, which is a monument built by prisoners of war for the fascist dictator Franco. I’m really disappointed that the tour operators continue to feature tours of that place. My grandfather was in one of Franco’s concentration camps and so I didn’t want to go to Valle de los Caídos. This tour was great. Our driver was very friendly. El Escorial is huge and there is a lot to see. It is a palace, a basilica and an art museum. I almost wish we could have spent more time there but we only had half a day for this excursion. Having a guide was helpful because of how much is there.
