Wow! Scenic Cycle tour - just book it!! Best tour we have done. Our host Maki was fantastic. The destinations and pace of the ride was perfect. Not strenuous, Kyoto is as flat as a pool table, safe and away from busy roads. It’s a cultural experience, and being on the e-bike you see more and have a breeze over you the whole time. Just loved it.

Maki guided me to the part of Kyoto tourists never see, all the way north, up the mountain, past a samurai guard/teahouse dating back to 1600s - to the Buddhist temple built by Tokugawa Ieyasu as a school, later converted to a temple. Poetic experience of pure beauty, no crowds, no noise - just the experience. Maki is an excellent guide, with in depth understanding of Japanese culture and history, which she explains using personal examples, making her explanations relatable and easy to understand. And she knows a lot, just ask. Want to know where are the teeth of Tokugawa Ieyasu? Just ask Maki. The bikes are in excellent shape, well maintained, so if you are worried whether they can carry a 100kg tourist - they can, they carried me. Highly recommended, very professional company and a great experience.

Super fun bike ride under the professional and enthusiastic guidance of Maki. Highly recommended to discover the less busy Kyoto and learn more about Japanese culture and history.

Today bike tour done with Maki, great guide. Seen a lot of authentic Kyoto. Learned a lot about the history and customs of this city
After being kitted out with your e-bike we will cycle for approximately 15 minutes to Heian Shrine. We will pedal through the iconic Torii gate as we make our way to some of Kyoto’s best secret gems.
After our cycle from Heian Jingu we will step into a quiet, tucked-away shrine steeped in the history of Shintoism. Here, you’ll explore age-old rituals and spiritual traditions that lie at the core of Japanese culture, all within a peaceful setting far from the usual tourist paths. From here, we’ll cycle a short way to a historic Zen temple, home to stunning gardens and its own peaceful bamboo forest—a beautiful retreat in true Kyoto!
After trying a local delicacy we will cycle to one of the oldest and most historic shrines in Japan. We will then cycle for approximately 20 minutes along the Kamo River back to the bike shop where before leaving I can give local recommendations for the rest of your time in beautiful Kyoto.
