Lorenzo our tour guide was fantastic and incredibly knowledgeable about everything we did through the tour. The tour really was a full day tour - we got picked up at 8.30 in the morning and dropped off at 8.30 in the evening. It packed so much in: we loved Taormina, the staff at the tasting lunch were fantastic, and we spent a lot of time on Etna, despite it being a cloudy day, with Lorenzo happy to take us around as many craters as we wanted and telling us everything about them.

One must be aware that the package was essentially a comfortable drive from one stop to another and the driver was really nice (Claudio), but the actual Etna experience - which is a must - was done by the group alone at a whopping extra 80€

Etna Tribe is a fabulous organization that provided us with a wonderful driver and guide named Carmello. Pick up was at a convenient location and he was very prompt. There were six other guests along with us. Two spoke only Spanish. Carmelo fluently moved between English and Spanish. He treated us all respectfully and educated us very well. He helped us know what we needed to do to stay together and not do things that caused the others to have to wait for us. It was just a wonderful experience. We opted to take the gondola and large four-wheel-drive vehicles up to one of the craters on Etna and walked around the crater on loose pumice. There is a certain amount of physical dexterity required for this. We had a wonderful tasting meal at a winery and then on to Taormina, a beautiful village. We were there on Independence Day, so the place was really mobbed. But it was an interesting experience. And Carmello was just so wonderful all the way. He even dropped us off very close to our accommodation rather than where he had picked us up.

It was a great day with beautiful experiences and a fantastic guide who informed us extensively about the population, history, Mount Etna and the lush vegetation of the area around Mount Etna. More than worth the amount!
