Response from Host, Nov 2024

Thank you very much for your heartfelt review. We are so happy to hear that both of you had a great time in Kyoto with the beautiful autumn foliage of Japanese gardens. We think one of the attractions of this private tour is that we were able to introduce restaurants that local Kyoto people go to for lunch. We were also lucky to have good weather on the way Kyoto and be able to see the beautiful Mt. Fuji from Shinkansen! We look forward to introducing you to other charms of Japan next time. Yoshimi

Great Day in Kyoto

This tour was very good. Our guide Taiji was very considerate, helpful, and knowledgeable about all the stops in Kyoto and even provided us tips for our stay in Tokyo.

Itinerary

  • Depart from Tokyo using the bullet train Nozomi.

    3 hours
  • Kiyomizu-dera Temple

Founded in 780, it is one of the most visited and celebrated temples in Japan.

It is famous for its stage over the clear water (kiyomizu) to enjoy picturesque scenery, truly a sight to behold!

Some people really jump off the stage to make significant decisions in the past from the saying "take a plunge such as jumping off the Kiyomizu stage".

    1 hour
    Admission Included
  • Nene-no-Michi

Walk from Kiyomizu-dera to Yasaka Shrine. It's a lively and photogenic town lined with various shops along the slopes.

    30 minutes
  • Yasaka Shrine

Yasaka Shrine is one of the iconic shrines in Kyoto located in the Gion district famous for maikos.

    50 minutes
  • Hanamikoji Street

Hanamikoji is the main street of Gion, which reigns as the pinnacle of Kyoto's five entertainment districts.

As you enter the street, you will see Ichiriki, the most prestigious tea house. Ichiriki is not allowed at first glance. The construction makes it impossible to see the inside of the tea house just like a castle wall.

    30 minutes
  • Pontocho District

Walk through Pontocho, one of Kyoto's five entertainment districts. Stroll in the narrow alley with crowded rowhouses where the tea house culture still exists.

    30 minutes
  • You can enjoy an elegant lunch at Restaurant Ganko's charming Japanese house, where a tributary of the Kamogawa River flows through the premises.

It will be a course meal from 4000yen to 16,000yen.

Or find a different place on the day.

    1 hour
  • Kinkakuji Temple

Also known as the Golden Pavilion, it is a gorgeous temple.

What a nouveau riche idea to cover the surface of temple buildings with gold leaf. But the Shogun was amazing at following through on his words. There is no temple like this anywhere in the world.

    50 minutes
    Admission Included
  • Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine

When you pass through the Torii gate, you enter a sacred world. While all shrines have torii gates, Fushimi Inari Shrine stands out for its sheer number and impressive presence! Indeed, every corner of the shrine is a photo spot!

    50 minutes
  • Leave Kyoto to head back to Tokyo using the bullet train, Shinkansen.
