Take a night kayaking tour from Las Croabas, through the mangrove channels of Las Cabezas de San Juan Nature Reserve to Laguna Grande. Here you can find the billions of microscopic plankton that live in the water and light up at the touch of your hand to create a beautiful, iridescent glow in the water. Learn about this natural phenomenon and its fragile ecosystem from your informative guide as you paddle through the lagoon. Please note the weight limit is 240 pounds per person.

Great experience and workout!

Great experience and greater workout! The bioluminescence was low during this time but just the river kayak and starry night sky is worth it! Be prepared though to kayak in pitch dark and listen to instructions. Thank you Neisha, Ineliz, and Francisco for the tour :)
Fun and Active in Nature

We had a great time! Neisha was nice and greeted us first. Ineliz was wonderful, she went over everything we should expect and basic kayaking techniques beforehand. Jose and Francisco kept us on track and out of the mangroves. When we got to the lagoon the bioluminescent visibility was low (as expected due to the current conditions) but the crew made sure we saw something. Ineliz gave us cool facts about the plankton, the ecosystem, and even showed us some constellations. You will get wet at least from the waist down so I didn't bring my phone but thankfully Lori was there to capture the fun! All in all worth it even though we had low vis.
Fun even without the bioluminescence

Neisha was our host and Ineliz, Francisco, Lori and Jose were our guides. The conditions were not the best to see the luminescence but they made sure we still had fun. We did see some sparkles in the water and some lighting bugs in the air. The night sky was beautiful and they pointed out some constellations.

- Maximum Weight Limit: 240 lbs PER ONE GUEST | up to 425 lbs COMBINED PER KAYAK
- Minimum age is 6 years old | Participants Age 6-13 must be accompanied by an adult on the same kayak. Participants 14-17 must have an adult participating on the tour.
- Wear Comfortable clothes that can get wet (bathing suit shorts), shoes that can get wet (flip flops / water shoes), bring a towel and change of clothes (for after the excursion).
- Odd number parties will be assigned on double kayaks during the tour.
- Bring your cell phone during your travel (in the event that we need to contact you, or you need to contact us prior to the excursion)
- This excursion requires a minimum of at least 6 total participants in order to provide the tour. In the event this minimum is not met, we will call 1-2 days prior to the excursion to go over alternative options (i.e. reschedule for a different date or time that has the minimum requirement, payment options for a private excursion, or cancel without penalty)
- For safety reasons we requiere all guests are able to communicate in English or Spanish.
- Not recommended for travelers with back, neck, wrist, arm, leg problems, recent surgeries / injuries and/or cast.
- Not recommended for travelers who are prone to panic attacks
