It’s a moving experience, wanted more time there to learn and try to understand but I’m not sure anyone can really understand this sad part of history. Scott was our guide and explained a lot and was also open to questions on a not so easy subject to talk about.

Everyone should experience this type of tour. It was heavy but important to remember. You could spend all day at the site.

Marcin, the guide, gave so much detail that we were never told at school. He is so familiar with the site and its history that I recommend that anyone interested in this part of history book this tour.

Our tour guide, Marcin, did a wonderful job of educating us on this complex and haunting history. We learned so much and appreciated that we were led by someone who obviously has extensive knowledge and passion for helping others understand and remember the lives of so many. Everyone should take this tour. It is not always easy but was something we will never forget. Having transportation taken care of once we met our guide in Munich was great and stress free. Such a great value for a really memorable experience.
Meet your qualified guide on the Marienplatz. The guide will provide a small briefing on how the tour will run.
Make a transfer from train to the bus, the bus follows the route the prisoners were forced to march. The train station itself is the original and a majority of prisoners would have arrived there before marching to the camp.
While visiting the Dachau Memorial Site you will learn why the camp opened and who were the first prisoners to arrive. You'll also hear about the camp's evolution, development and SS training facilities, as well as the registration, categorization and treatment of prisoners.
See the Jourhaus, the entrance building and gateway into the camp, the roll call square Appellplatz, and Memorial Site Museum in the former maintenance building. Listen to your guide telling you about the barracks, prisoner life and daily routine, camp perimeter fence and guard towers, the International Memorial, Nandor Glid Sculpture, religious memorials and Barrack X, the two crematoriums, mass graves, and the gas chamber.
After the tour of the Dahchau Memorial Site the tour will return you to the start location on Marienplatz.
