Kintsugi is the Japanese art of mending shattered pottery with lacquer that’s often dusted with gold. Learn about the traditional art’s history and try your hand at it in this class, where you’ll sprinkle 23K gold onto lacquer. As a bonus, the workshop is also held in a traditional Japanese building with wooden architecture that’s worth exploring after class.

Jo is an excellent, patient teacher who explained the entire kintsugi process to me. The workshop was well planned out, and the relaxed atmosphere embodied the ethos of the Japanese way of life. I also learned how to make matcha the authentic way (it’s all about the froth on top!!) which was pretty cool. I highly recommend this.

This was worth every minute, so very interesting and taught by a master in the art of Kintsugi, who was so very polite and friendly. The history about the art form was explained with slides and questions and open discussion encouraged. Held in a traditional studio that was over 100 years old with a gallery up stairs and finished with a lovely matcha tea lesson at the end of the workshop-tasted wonderful. Highly, highly recommend.
