I advise against the tour. No serious handling. Confronted via WhatsApp with change requests on the day of the tour.

The description of the visits implied that is was a walking tour but the guide said it was not because the distances were impossible to walk . After the visit to the synagogue which was very good we paid for a tram to the station to see the kinder memorial and the tram back to the end. We did not see the polytechnic institute .The guide told us a lot about WW2, the Communist period, Lech Walenza and her own education and family experiences and she was very good despite the confusion about how the tour was supposed to to go. We booked our own cab from the ship at the port and back and the guide showed us the meeting point when we go off the tram.

Not enough Jewish content to substantiate a “Jewish Tour”. Guide (Margaret)was knowledgeable and very willing to adapt the tour to meet our our interests. However, there wasn’t much “Jewish” history & landmarks to base the tour around. We were not informed that there was no transportation provided by tour company (tour guide was unprepared based on a lack of communication from tour company) and we were expected to provide taxi/driver for the tour. We took public transportation for part of tour(that we had to pay for) and then walked remainder of tour. However it was not really a very “walkable” tour as landmarks were far apart. There was a lack of communication between local tour company and Viator and in turn with us and the guide. Although the guide was lovely and it was a private tour, it was not worth the cost.
Meet your guide in front of the Jaskowa Dolina Fountain, Jaskowa Dolina, 80-980 Gdansk
You will see the only remaining synagogue in the city, the New Synagogue, but you will also learn about the Great Synagogue, which was completely destroyed under the Nazi regime. The guide will share interesting stories about the local Jewish history and culture, from the Middle Ages, through the General Privilege, World War Two, to present day.
Visit the New Synagogue and learn more about the local Jewish community. Built in 1926-1927 based on the design by Berlin architects Imberg and Friedman, the synagogue is a simple and practical place of worship. Inside, you will learn about the activities aimed to keep the Jewish heritage alive in the city, and see a small exhibition on the history of 20th century Jews of Gdansk.
Another point of interest will be the University of Technology, whose architect and the first vice-chancellor was Albert Carsten. The scholar worked at the university until 1933 when he was fired due to his Jewish origin. Through stories like this, you will be able to understand how the Nazi ideology spreading across Poland has severely damaged the local Jewish community even before the official beginning of WWII, forcing many Jews to emigrate.
You will also learn about the Kindertransport, a rescue effort that saved some of Gdanks’s Jewish children from persecution.
Enrich your Jewish experience tour with a visit to the Jewish Cemetery in Chelm. Datin back to 1694, it is one of the oldest Jewish cemeteries in Poland. It survived WWII intact but has suffered from mindless mindless vandalism and destruction after 1956. Nevertheless, it is an important place of Jewish heritage with a few sandstone headstones that tell the story of Gdansk’s Jews.
Your Private Guide will show you around Wrzeszcz district, which is a cultural center for the local Jewish community.
