Visit to Matterhorn

Voyager59245373500, Feb 2025

You took a train to Gornergrat to see the Matterhorn but couldn’t view it due to haze. Despite that, you enjoyed the experience, especially the light snowfall.

Weather limiting experience.

Trail54203665803, Jan 2025

Train ride up was beautiful, the weather at the top was heavy snow & wind so that limited the ability to enjoy the experience. The interactive display was okay, did not justify the additional cost of the ticket. Would recommend not pre-purchasing tickets so that you can choose a day where the weather is more cooperative.

Convenient to Purchase in Advance

Scenic29526155422, Dec 2024

We were blessed with clear, sunny skies in between rainy days. I didn't compute the price difference between securing the tickets online and buying there at Zermatt. It's rather straight-forward, just to purchase the tickets --ride the train - get off, and walk free-n-easy. There's no assigned seats, and the schedule to ride is constant and reliable. Depending on your total number of days in Switzerland, perhaps it would be cost-effective to simply secure the discounted pass for transportation.

Gornegrat in October

N5471IDalbertoc, Nov 2024

Very good experience. We went in late October, some pros and cons: Pros: clear and clean weather. The climb provides a wonderful view of the city of Zermatt Not very full, being able to take advantage of each point and stop of the tour and mo own Gornergrat. The opposite side of the Matterhorn also offers beautiful landscapes. With clear day it was possible to see everything within eye reach. Cons: little snow, some points in the observatory was slippery, because it was only ice. Be careful whoever's in tennis this time. The Monte shops close at 4:00. High value (114 CHF per person). Since I had euroil and not swisspass, I had to pay in full. With Swisspass, it would be 57 CHF.

Even the journey is a great experience with a constant view of the Matterhorn. You can’t get enough of the panorama at the top – mountains and glaciers as far as the eye can see.

The interactive exhibition, which shows the Matterhorn and its surrounding alpine world in all dimensions, will fascinate both young and old and is even a great place to visit on the Gornergrat when the weather is not so good. All tickets which have the Gornergrat as their start or end station include admission to the ZOOOM exhibition.
