We booked Angel Mountain and Juta hikes with mountain freaks, and our guide was Keti. These were the hikes of our lives. Not only did Keti help the two of us with little hiking experience to finish the hikes, but she also shared beautiful stories and background information with us. Words cannot describe how much joy, fun and awe we had on these hikes. She also cares genuinely about the environment and local community, which we really respect. This shows true love of the mountains and the experience. We already cannot wait to come back to Kazbegi, and would recommend hiking with Mountain Freaks to everyone!

Beautiful views of a unique landscape

Great trekking trip to the beautiful Truso Valley. The views were simply amazing. Even though it was snowing, my guide Keti made sure the whole experience was a lot of fun. And thank you to the Mountain Freaks team for letting me hire a pair of much needed trekking shoes and poncho.
Itinerary
This is the most beautiful valley in Georgia. Truso Valley is a magical place with magnificent mineral springs, a rapid river, and natural “pools”. The trail starts and ends in the village of Okrokana, which is 25 km from Stepantsminda. We will go there by 4x4 car from our office. We will return in the same way.
6 hoursWe will do a delightful trek (22 km of the flat trail) through the Kasari Canyon, the abandoned village Ketrisi and two monasteries to the Zakagori Fortress near the border with Russia, where the Georgian military base is located.
1 hourWe do a picnic near a natural “pool”. We will meet many shepherds and their herds. This trekking is easy, but it is a long day (22 km and 7 h in total), so you have to be fit enough. You should take water and snacks. You must be prepared for changeable weather. Bring a jacket and something in case it rains. You must also have trekking shoes. The time spent in the car is 1 hour and the trekking time is 7 hours.
