Too big a group

Gill_G, Apr 2025

Guide was good but it was constant on and off trains and little time spent at each town / village . Very busy multilingual trip obviously very popular but too big a group . Would have been better if the group was smaller . Pretty place though and the guide was very helpful

Viator is not a good tour provider.

Deborah_S, Oct 2024

Viator added nothing to this tour, if you can call it that. Our "guide" offered no commentary on the way there. His "guidance" at each stop was minimal if any and inaccurate many times. We could have done this on our own for less.

Very irresponsible tour guide. Not recommended

Liz_D, Sept 2024

I specifically booked this tour for my 18-year-old as it was an accompanied tour and the description was clear about the guide accompanying the group and giving precise instructions on the bus trip. My daughter and six others were basically abandoned at the train station midway through the trip. I can’t imagine what she would’ve done if she hadn’t been with adults who were also left behind because the tour guide failed to give proper instructions. While my youngster is shy. The other adults in the group were not and told the guide in no uncertain terms that he had not only stressed out, but had failed to follow the basic protocols of keeping the group together. Instead, he failed to tell everyone that they were getting off of the third stop so half of the group in one car of the train got off and the other half of the group ended up at the last station three stops down the line because they were not given clear instructions. The fact that seven people ended up somewhere completely different than the rest of the group tells you it wasn’t one person that misunderstood instructions. It was three couples and my daughter. I specifically chose a guided tour so that my youngster would feel at ease. When she called me in a panic halfway through the morning, it’s stressed the entire family out . I would not recommend “Ciao Italy” for any tours

Romantic adventure

Good guides. Cheerful team. Everything clear and on time. The weather didn't stop us from enjoying the trip. Thanks for the good memories!

Thank you very much!

Itinerary

  • Montecatini Terme

Make the most of your time in Cinque Terre... Meet your tour guide at Piazzale Italia, in Montecatini, under the clock tower of the station. Find your seat on the comfortable coach bus, sit and relax, and prepare to depart for your journey to the nearby coastline! The drive to Cinque Terre will take about two hours. Throughout the drive, your guide will entertain you with plenty of interesting information about the famous views and villages on the way, as well as Cinque Terre and what to expect upon arrival. If you have any questions, your guide will be there to assist you.

    1 hour
  • Stazione La Spezia Centrale

After about two hours, you will arrive in La Spezia, the closest city to Cinque Terre. Here, your bus driver will drop off the group at the train station. Your guide will lead the group through the small train station, and your group will get on the first train to Manarola. The train takes about ten minutes, and then you will arrive in the stunning coastal town!

    30 minutes
  • Manarola

Manarola is an ancient fishing village famous for its brightly colored homes and pristine white wine! Enjoy marvelous views of its sparkling blue sea, the impeccable homes stacked upon each other, and the green grapevines towering in the distance. Your guide will happily point out the best viewpoints for photos (Manarola is very famous on Instagram, its views are incomparable!). You will have about an hour of free time to explore this picturesque town as you please.

    1 hour
  • Vernazza

From Manarola, your guide will lead you back to the train station to head to the nearby town of Vernazza. The train will take less than ten minutes, and then you will have about 1 hour of free time in this lovely waterfront town. Make your way to the small, picturesque harbor, also called "the Pearl of Cinque Terre." If you are lucky, you will witness the local fisherman arriving back from their morning fishing in small blue boats. Enjoy the characteristic (and famous) views of Vernazza's emerald water and colorful homes. Spend some time strolling through the ancient streets smelling of fresh focaccia and pesto. If you need any recommendations, your guide will be happy to help!

    1 hour
  • Monterosso al Mare

The train ride to Monterosso will take about ten minutes. When you arrive, your guide will give plenty of recommendations for how you can spend your time in Monterosso. This historic fishing town is most famous for its wide, white sand beaches with crystal-clear water. Spend some time exploring the ancient town and indulging in some pesto pasta or delicious seafood for lunch. Then, find a spot on the pristine coastline to relax under the sun, take a dip in the incredible sea, and take some memorable photos! You will have three hours of free time in Monterosso.

    3 hours
  • Riomaggiore

Meet your guide at the small pier in Monterosso, and they will lead you to a boat. Find a comfortable seat and enjoy a journey of about forty-five minutes by sea. The picturesque boat ride will allow you to see the towns of Cinque Terre from a waterfront perspective... the incredible views from the bright, blue sea are unforgettable! When you arrive at the natural port of Riomaggiore, you will be welcomed by more brightly colored homes stacked on striking cliffs. Enjoy about an hour of free time to explore the beachy alleyways, purchase any last-minute artisanal souvenirs, and admire the lovely views. When it is time to depart, you will see the sun starting to settle and what seems like gold flakes over the sea, as small boats pull into the port after their days at sea.

    1 hour
  • Stazione La Spezia Centrale

Your train back to La Spezia will take less than ten minutes. Follow your guide back to the bus, where you will depart for Montecatini.

    30 minutes
  • Montecatini Terme

Relax on the comfortable, air conditioned bus after your incredible day of exploration and beauty. You will arrive back in Montecatini in the early evening.
