It was a wonderful opportunity to be shown the tea ceremony and learn more about the tradition of tea. It was in the host’s house and they were very kind and gracious. Afterwards, we had the opportunity to make our own tea.

I am a guide in charge of a 12-day tour for a group of about 10 foreigners. One of the guests from the previous tour happened to find it and experience it for herself, and she strongly recommended it, so I brought seven guests this time. They will teach you the history, background and meaning of the tea ceremony and will give you an authentic tea ceremony experience with great Japanese sweets and matcha. You can also make your own matcha. I think it is a one-of-a-kind experience because Minami-san, who teaches tea in Gion Kobu, personally offers hospitality. It was conducted by a very graceful and gracious lady at her own home. It was almost like our own private tea ceremony. The hostess was informative, and took us through the steps of the tea ceremony with grace. And we got to make our own tea at the end. Enjoyed the session!!
