We will start our visit in the cozy Villa of the Amphitheater, and enter its bedrooms and kitchens with colorful mosaics where lavish banquets were held. We will enter the best preserved Roman circus in Europe, with stands and paths prepared for the exciting quadrilateral races. In the Roman Baths, you can see how the numerous pools were heated or cooled through ovens and the incredible snow pit. In the Temple of Diana, we can participate in the religious sphere of worship of the gods and the emperor. We will walk through the remains of the Roman Forum, with artisan shops of terracotta and mosaic, typical of Merida. As we enter the amphitheater, we will experience the famous gladiatorial battles, fights with beasts and even ship battles. We will finish at the magnificent Teatro Romano de Mérida, where every summer we revive the spirit of classical theatre in a festival with renowned actors.

I enjoyed the tour very much so. The guide was knowledgeable, kind and attentive to the group. Also, the group size was small so she made it a point to communicate and talk to every member of the group. I'm 75 years old and she did not make us hurry to all the individual sites, but spent the appropriate amount of time at each site.

This is a must do if you come to Merida to see the Roman archeological sites. Lucia, our tour guide, was so knowledgeable about every location and answer all our questions. It would be very difficult to find all of the location that are on the tour without a guide. Lucia had tons of interesting information to share about each site and made the history come alive. She stopped for bathroom breaks and was conscientious about the pace and participants’ need for to stop to a rest. Incredibly enjoyable. Highly recommend this tour to all.

A very informative, well prepared your of the major Roman sites in Merida. Lucia was an EXCELLENT guide. She is very knowledgeable about the history of the romans and the history of Merida. She is very friendly and outgoing and made the tour fun. Highly recommended. She was able to show us areas of Merida where one would not normally see if they toured on their own.
