I enjoyed this tour with my family and we gladly recommend it! The tour with Ilan was very educational, we managed to learn historical facts that we would not have been able to learn on our own. In addition, Ilan is very nice and good at explaining. Yes, anyone is interested in taking a tour where you can learn about the history of the city and various curious facts that you would not get anywhere else, we recommend it!! Thank you so much.
Kick off the tour walking through the fascinating Paulista avenue. A place that is sure to impress you not only with its appearance, but also with its much rich history that may seem common in the eyes of some, but in the company of an expert tour guide can be mind-blowing.
The second stop is at the Liberdade subway station (Japanese area), where every Sunday takes place the Art, Craft and Culture Fair. In Liberdade, tourists can try typical Japanese as well as other eastern countries treats, talk with exhibitors and vendors and learn a little about their cultures. South Korean Melona ice cream is a must-try dessert.
The neighborhood commerce is quite quirky, makeup shops, gifts, decorations and food markets. Entering a local market is such a program with different foods, mints and chips that tourists will love to taste.
Neighborhood lighting poles catch tourists attention and characterize the region for its beautiful Japanese style lamps.
From Liberdade, walk through some of the most historically city sights such as “Sé Cathedral, “Pátio do Colégio”, “Tea Viaduct”, “Matarazzo building”, the Municipal Theater, to finish it up at Republic Square seeing some striking architectural symbols of São Paulo. Then go to the subway station to catch the train to Luz Station.
Over the past century, the station has become a gateway for millions of immigrants, from where they came by train after they arrived in Brazil at the port of Santos. The mass wave of immigrants upgraded the then small town of São Paulo to an important metropolis along the 20th century.
