Depart from central London by coach and travel to the historical city of Oxford. As you travel, hear about the world-famous University of Oxford whose ivy-strewn buildings you visit during your comprehensive walking tour.
On arrival, follow your guide along the timeworn streets, and check off top sights like the Bridge of Sighs. Then enjoy free time to sightsee independently.
When the time comes, return to your coach and relax on the journey to Bampton village in Oxfordshire, which is featured in 'Downton Abbey' as Downton Village. Pass recognizable sights like the church where Lady Mary and Matthew Crawley wed and Grantham Arms.
Afterward, continue on south to Hampshire, where the grand Highclere Castle awaits. The estate, which dates back to the Victorian eta, is set amid 1,000 acres (405 hectares) of rolling parkland and was featured as Downton Abbey on the show. Tour the castle’s opulent rooms with your guide, and see the main hall and library—all used in the filming of 'Downton Abbey.' Hear about your favorite Downton characters and the real-life family who owns Highclere.
Make the most of some free time before jumping back in your coach for the return drive to London.

The tour guide Peter, did an excellent job giving us background information about the history of Oxford, Downton Abbey and Highclere Castle. We had a great time!

Peter, our guide, and Robert, our driver, made this day trip out of London very worthwhile. My daughter enjoyed the scenery despite not being a Downton Abbey fan. Peter’s background and the way he incorporated history and the tour theme was great. Schedule was on point.

The experience was amazing; we enjoyed it very much. The organization was excellent; both the guide and the driver were excellent. The visit to Orford was very interesting, and in Bampton, we could see typical sites of the series. Finally, the visit to the castle was amazing. Everything was beautifully decorated and very classy, the guides were very friendly and we could discuss aspects of the series. Everything was perfect.

The bus was very nice (nearly new) and the ride was awesome. We rode downstairs but the majority rode in the double deck. Eva (SP?) was our guide and she was amazing. She kept us all engaged on the trip to help pass the time. Plenty of time at each stop and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. That said, I was a bit disappointed by Highclere Castle as it’s quite a bit run down even after a 11+ million pound refit. Literally could not tell where they spent the money but the castle has seen far better times in its heyday I’m sure. The grounds were amazing and the outside while rustic and worn was amazing to look at. Trust me when I say, I have a new found appreciation for film editors, post production crews and sound managers. They really make it look different on TV or the big screen. Would I do it again, no, but would I want to see it as a fan, yes by all means.
