If you visit Amsterdam for the first time, the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam or simply Rijksmuseum is a must-see! It is the most important museum in the Netherlands, as well as the maximum emblem of Dutch identity. As a perfect abstract of art and history of the region, this national museum includes 80 galleries that house 8,000 art objects which tell a story from the distant 1200 until the 2000s.
The Rembrandt House Museum, or Rembrandthuis in Dutch, is the former house of the important Dutch Golden Age painter Rembrandt. The restored 17th-century house, now converted into an art museum, tells the story of Rembrandt as a person, artist, teacher, collector, businessman, and citizen of Amsterdam.
The Anne Frank House is undoubtedly one of the most visited and well-known buildings in all of Amsterdam and the Netherlands. The historic building is where Anne Frank, a widely discussed Jewish victim of the Holocaust, hid with her family from Nazi persecution during the German occupation of the Netherlands in World War II.
Step through the majestic wrought-iron gates into the largest park of Amsterdam – Vondelpark. Immerse yourselves in a local hotspot and enjoy the peace of old trees, green trails, small bridges and lake. Feel free to bring a picnic or enjoy something from the wide selection of restaurants and cafés – a top favourite being Groot Melkhuis.
