guided tour at your own pace.

Paqui_O, Apr 2026

You can make the visit at your own pace, without rushing. The explanation is quite complete. The main points of the city are covered. It is a good alternative to the in-person guide.

Nice experience. Recommended

PVFC63, Apr 2026

The walking tour allowed us to optimize the time available to us (an afternoon) to visit the main places and attractions of the city center as the itinerary is very well signposted. The ability to listen and read all the information was very useful. No contraindications.

Excellent self-paced walking tour

James_P, Apr 2026

This walking tour was very informative, and the ability to self-pace, explore other interests in the area, and then resume the tour was very helpful. It does require internet connectivity throughout which may be limiting for some.

A valuable help to enjoy the city

I went thru the material the day before, so I enjoyed walking around the city and listening again all the details and info.

Itinerary

  • Piazza dell'Unita d'Italia

Welcome to the Europe’s largest open sea square (12280 square metres!). The square is so beautiful that it would be worth coming to Trieste just to see it. But many more attractions await us!

    20 minutes
  • Arco di Riccardo

An ancient Roman gate probably dating back to the 1st century A.D., opened in the ancient walls of the Roman Tergeste, built by Augustus in 33 B.C.

    10 minutes
  • Cattedrale di San Giusto Martire

This stands on the top of the hill of the same name, which was already the acropolis of the Roman city of Tergeste and probably the site of a sacred area. The present building, with five naves, is the result of the unification, in the early 14th century, of two separate religious complexes.

    20 minutes
  • Castello di San Giusto

One of the most representative symbols of the city, San Giusto Castle stands on the hill of the same name overlooking the city, its gulf and its hinterland.

The entrance ticket (not included) costs €6: if you want to enjoy a beautiful view of the gulf it is worth it!

    20 minutes
  • Teatro Romano di Trieste

The Roman theatre in Trieste is located at the foot of San Giusto hill, in the heart of the city, on the edge of the historic area.

    20 minutes
  • Throughout the 19th century, this area was the economic heart of Trieste. Today it is an elegant square with several interesting buildings and some interesting facts that I will tell you about!

    20 minutes
  • Chiesa Serbo Ortodossa Di San Spiridione

Amazing building in the centre of the city. The church of St Spiridione is built in the shape of a Greek cross, reflecting the Byzantine style of eastern churches and has a central dome that is higher than the four bell towers.

    20 minutes
  • Commonly called ‘Sant’Antonio Nuovo’, it takes its name from an earlier church dating back to the mid 18th century. Built between 1828 and 1849, the new church was inspired by the classical majesty of important Roman monuments.

    20 minutes
  • Canale Grande

The Grand Canal, 370 metres long and 28 metres wide is a symbol of the city: a walk along its banks is a must!

    15 minutes
  • Molo Audace - Gia "Molo S. Carlo"

A walkway over the sea of over 200 metres, a magical place to take a walk and oxygenate yourself at any time of day, in any season, and be enchanted watching the autumn sunsets when the palaces of the Rive are tinged with red, or if you are a real daredevil, run braving the bora at 100km/h to get to the top of the wind rose and see if you can stand!
