So the actual tour guide in Cairo Ahmed was excellent he really made our trip special. He was knowledgeable and funny and got to know us and tailored our tours specially for us, the perks of booking a private tour guide and not being in a large group setting. I would definitely recommend this if you want flexibility in how you spend your day and to get the most out of the trip. We went to the pyramids early so it was cooler and less busy which was appreciated and the experience was amazing so much better than expected. Ahmed is a pro with photos and he took loads of funny and interesting snaps of our family in different poses which we loved. I got the sense Ahmed was genuinely interested in us and not just a tip. A really lovely guy as was our driver and the taxi each end of the airport runs. These staff were amazing and caring. The day was spent seeing sights and hidden parts of Cairo and cuts through around the city, with lots of interesting facts along the way. The museum blew us away it was hot inside (take a fan) but the artefacts and scale of the place was just breathtaking! It made up for the total disorganisation of the admin office which is why sadly I have given 3 stars instead of 5. They were totally disorganised, tried to bill me 30$ for fees I’d already paid, messed up the flights really badly so we got collected 4.20am, then the flight home to hurghada was 23.50 which was totally ridiculous and not what the trip states. It clearly marked it as 12 hours which was the reason I paid more for a private tour so we got back to the hotel at a sensible time for our child. The admin didn’t care really that they messed up and left us to sort our own flights back with EgyptAir and their airport rep. They booked us 21.15 flights and sent a confirmation for something that actually didn’t exist. I think because they leave it so late to book, you get the cheapest and worst times left. This wasn’t the deal! So a great trip ruined by becoming nearly a 22 hour day. But a day of amazing sights and sounds and tastes and I’d highly recommend taking a trip to Cairo but ensure the details are what you booked!
