Our guide was very sweet, but we had an hour long English tour booked and our guide spoke less English than I do Italian. Our tour of the Palace was less than twenty minutes and contained maybe four facts, the rest was just pointing at things. I actually have no idea what we saw or the context for any of it. Then we went outside and she just started showing us other things in the city which was nice, but not what we were looking for.

Gifted a guided tour to a friend of mine for Christmas. We really liked it. The gentleman who gave us the tour was very prepared and passionate! Too bad you can't get into the library just for a look. It's really a shame not to be able to access it as it is a precious asset that should be able to be even seen and known by those interested. Anyway it was a appreciated gift!
The Archiginnasio Palace is one of the most significant buildings in Bologna. Located in the heart of its historic center, it has housed the Municipal Library since 1838. The Palace was built by Cardinal Borromeo between 1562 and 1563 based on a design by the architect Antonio Morandi, known as Terribilia, as the seat of the University
You will visit the famous Anatomical Hall of the Archiginnasio palace where you can stay for 10 minutes while listening to the guide's story. The hall, called Theatre for its characteristic amphitheatre shape, was designed in 1637 for anatomical lessons by the Bolognese architect Antonio Paolucci known as Levanti, a student of the Carraccis.
On the first floor of the building are the Library and the Historical Rooms. Usually not open without a guided tour. You can admire the hall
