At The Kitchen, you’ll learn by doing, feeling the textures, working the dough, and watching your Pastéis de Nata come out of the oven golden and warm.
There’s a natural balance between learning and enjoying the moment. You’ll be focused when it matters, but there’s always space to relax, chat, and share the experience with others around you.
We keep the atmosphere small, welcoming, and hands-on, so everyone is involved and comfortable throughout the class.
And then, of course, comes the question we hear all the time:
“Can we save them for tomorrow?”
Our answer is always the same — these are the best Pastéis de Nata you’ll have, because you made them yourself… so eat them fresh.
If you feel like having more tomorrow, you already know what to do — make them again.

Pastel de Nata Review

It was a fun class to learn the technique. However for the price we each paid and having to work with a partner, which was not specified I feel the price is excessive. You make “3” tarts. One lady in the class demanded to work alone while the other 8 of us had no choice (unless requested) to work in pairs. If you are going to do a “pair” thing then the cost should be half of what it is. An individual doesn’t get the full experience being paired up unless they requested to do so. For me I feel I paid way too much money to be paired up with someone when I never requested that. I would have had a way better experience doing this on my own which I thought I was doing. Money brought in for a two hour class that morning was over $900 just for the morning!! Seems a little excessive .

Our classes are designed to be interactive and social, and working in pairs has always been part of the experience, allowing guests to connect and enjoy the process together. I have personally taken similar pastel de nata classes in Lisbon and Porto over the years, and I have always worked in pairs with people I didn’t know, so this is quite common in this type of experience. That said, we truly appreciate your feedback and will make sure this is more clearly communicated in the class description to avoid any surprises in the future. Regarding pricing, we understand your perspective. It’s important to note that a significant part of the price includes high operational costs, including substantial commissions paid to booking platforms and the high level of taxation in Portugal. These factors have a considerable impact on the final price of the experience, while we continue to ensure quality, ingredients, and a well-structured class. We sincerely value your feedback, as it helps us improve and better manage expectations. Amazing class! The instructors were fantastic, knowledgeable, and very helpful. I can't believe how delicious our tarts were. We also had the Port Wine pairing, and it was great!
